WHAT’S NEW On October 18, Common-place published “A Home: Liberia Poems” and my statement of poetic research, “Daylight Breaks Again Suddenly Upon the Darkness: Revelations in the Library,” as part of their Poetic Research column. On October 23, Memorious: A Journal of New Verse and Fiction published two of my poems, “Postcard to Eduardo” and “Postcard to Wrong Address.” They were finalists for this year’s Art Song Contest. June 8: The Loft Literary Center announced that I was selected by judges Rob Spillman and Tony Valenzuela to be one of four recipients of their 2011 Minnesota Emerging Writers Grant. April 21: Mandala Journal published a conversation and four of my poems “The Wall” “Dangerous Goods” “Bemidji Shtick” and “Lack” in its Reconciliation issue. March 10: Memorious: A Journal of New Verse and Fiction announced the three finalists for their Art Song Contest, and I was one of them. March 3: The Minnesota State Arts Board announced that I was a recipient of a 2011 Artist Initiative Grant. March 2: I launched my blog Sean Hill’s Daybook. Check it out. January 5: Black Lawrence Press announced the ten finalists for their Black River Chapbook Competition, and my manuscript Minnesota Blues was one of them.
